Thanks to the Gypsy Truck we have an amazing opportunity to show the world that shopping, like traveling, dining and exploring art and culture can be a soul-enriching experience! A truly unique concept, the Gypsy Truck is trendy bohemian fashion concept store that travels and sells original clothes inspired by the free-spirit way of living. And trust us we are not talking about hippies here; the founder, Natalia, is a lady who has taste and knows how to source and match boho with luxury. Today we interview her about how the idea of creating Gypsy Truck came about and what are her inspirations and favorite style destinations.
MM: What is the ‘spirit’ of the gypsy truck?
GT: The spirit of Gypsy Truck is a bohemian spirit of adventure, of constantly changing and evolving and a mixing of the hippie spirit with the sophistication of the jet setter that always looks for a balance.
MM: What was the inspiration behind the idea?
GT: The inspiration come up because working with clients from fashion and gastronomy we saw the emerging success of food trucks here in Spain and then we realized that no one had created something with fashion under the same concept and we create Gypsy Truck , which is the first fashion truck Spain.
MM: If I could choose a place to travel with the Gypsy truck, where would you go and why?
GT: There are many, many places, many bohemians’ spots we’d like to go, but inspiration comes from Formentera, which for me is a magical place with a very special energy where all the influences that inspire us live, a perfect mix between all the international trends that the Island has received and adapted to their own roots and indigenous culture.
MM: What is true Gypsy dressing?
GT: A gypsy I think has no real way of dressing, it’s inspired by its surroundings and mixes everything, especially I think it is the mixture, there is no need to dress from head to toe with brands because this is not being a gypsy, a gypsy has to look for the best of a brand and know how to combine it with something that someone can sell at a flea market in any village around the world.
MM: Who’s your favorite gypsy muse and why?
GT: Well, my muse and who always inspires us is Kate Moss. For us, she is the best at mixing!
MM: What is the lifestyle of one ‘gypsy’- what activities, apart from traveling?
GT: Well this is a question I really like, especially because the utopian way of life would be one, and then there’s the everyday lifestyle which is a lot of work, but the utopian one would be to work and absorb different cultures and mix pleasure with good life, especially with a very creative side and find a way to continue a lifestyle where work is your passion.
MM: Where do you see yourself in five years?
GT: Who knows? I wish I knew! But hey I see myself working on something that I like and that excites me.
MM: If you could go shopping with a celebrity who would it be and where?
GT: Where? It’s hard because I like to go both shopping in regular shops and find hidden treasures in any market, this is what I like! And with who? With Kate Moss, again.
MM: What is a key gypsy style item every Bohemian girl should own?
GT: Perhaps the key element are the complements, the thing is to mix many necklaces and bracelets or wear many rings but certainly there is no key element, is the soul and spirit that a gypsy transmits. That is the truly gypsy soul.
MM: What is your favorite style destination?
GT: As style, I have no preferred destination. You can find style anywhere in the world, I think.
MM: Apart from the gypsy truck where can we have an amazing gypsy shopping experience?
GT: Gypsy Truck you said it! And then I would say in any vintage market.
MM: What is your favorite fashion era?
GT: My favorite era was perhaps 60 or 70 but without forgetting the present which I really like and luck for us, we have Gypsy Truck!
